Last update:

Limburg-based Solarge, a Dutch solar panel manufacturer, has secured fresh funding to support its operations. The funding amount, however, remains undisclosed. The company also announced the appointment of Bart Meijerink as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The funding was supported by Solarge’s shareholders and will be used to expand commercial operations and enter new markets, including Germany, Belgium, and Italy.

The company aims to accelerate the energy transition with lightweight, circular, and PFAS-free solar panels made in the Netherlands.

Solarge appoints new CEO

Besides the funding, Solarge has announced the appointment of Bart Meijerink as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1st.

Meijerink has experience in commercial strategy and business development. He will lead the company through its next phase of growth and expansion in Europe.

Bart says, “Solarge is uniquely positioned to lead in sustainable solar solutions. I look forward to working with the team to realise our strategic ambitions and contribute meaningfully to a greener future.”

Jan Vesseur, the current CEO and co-founder, will remain involved with Solarge as a shareholder and advisor.

Vesseur mentions, “We’re laying a strong foundation for the future. I’m confident that under Bart’s leadership, Solarge will thrive and accelerate its contribution to the energy transition.”

Promoting a sustainable energy transition

Founded in 2018 by Jan Vesseur, Huib van den Heuvel and Gerard de Leede, Solarge is a scale-up based in Eindhoven’s High Tech region specialising in solar technology. It aims to lead in integrating lightweight solar solutions into building environments.

Solarge claims its solar panels are environmentally friendly with a low CO2 footprint, free of Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS), recyclable, and customisable for partners. This approach, combined with competitive pricing, looks to transform solar applications worldwide.

The company’s long-term goal is to play a leading role in energy system changes. Solarge plans to expand the use of circular solar panels while exploring new approaches in the sector. By doing so, it seeks to contribute to broader environmental goals and advance the adoption of alternative energy sources.

In April 2024, Solarge secured €3M in funding from impact funds Phase2.earth and Orchard Participations, along with existing investors like Daan van der Vorm and Sytse Bouwer. And in the same year, in August, the Dutch company secured €1.5M from the Limburg Energy Fund (LEF).
